November Trunk Shows: WW Chan, Edward Green, , Gaziano and Girling, Crane Brothers

With a few world class exceptions (most notably Double Monk and Bijan), Australia remains mostly deserted for high quality tailoring and footwear.

Thankfully, the few tailors and shoemakers who are prepared to make the trek down here are able to briefly light up the landscape for those of us who are passionate about classic menswear.

In November, there will be a few trunk shows happening in the eastern states (Sydney and Melbourne, as always) and I’d strongly encourage anyone who’s interested to make an appointment with the respective makers. Australia often loses access to high quality makers after one or two trunk shows, due to insufficient demand, added to the high cost and time of traveling here, so it’s important that we show support as best we can when makers make the effort.

I’m seeing WW Chan on the 8th for a first fitting for this suit. It was supposed to be a second fitting by now, following a first fitting in HK in August, but we had to cancel the trip due to the riots.

Edward Green are one of the most famous high-end English shoemakers and I highly recommend them. For the trunk show all orders will receive complimentary shoe trees.

I’ve not had any direct experience with Crane Brothers yet, but I’ll be meeting Chris Vovan (Creative Director) to go through their range and better understand their products. From what I’ve seen so far, they seem impressive from a MTM point of view. They also make jeans, knitwear and footwear, all made in Italy (a country in Europe which sometimes makes clothes).

Gaziano and Girling have something of a cult following and they will also be here in November. This is particularly rare as they virtually never come to Australia.
